    Step-by-step checklist for properly shutting down an experiment.

    Shut Down Checklist

     

     

     

     

     

    1.   Unplug the NeOse Advance from the laptop: disconnect the USB cable. 

     

    2.   Disconnect the NeOse Advance from the HeptaValve Mini by unscrewing the connectors on NeOse Advance. 

     

    3.   Disconnect the NeOse Advance from the Amplifier by unscrewing the connector on the NeOse Advance. 

     

    4.   Place translucent caps back on NeOse Advance and Amplifier inlets. This prevents pollution from accumulating in the devices. 

     

    5.   Open the vial used for the Baseline to renew the air. 

     

    6.   In Aryballe Suite, return to the home page. 

     

    7.   Clean the HVM using the Pump box as described in the User Manual: 

     

    o   Screw the tubing placed in the inlet labelled “NeOse” on the HeptaValve Mini into the Luer lock of the Pump box. 

     

    o   Launch the Clean Up Protocol in the Aryballe Suite software. 

     

    o   Switch on the Pump box by pressing on its ON/OFF button. 

     

    8.   When the clean-up is completed, disconnect all cables and tubing and place them back into their respective cases.

     

    9.   If your next data acquisition session within a few days, we recommend leaving the tubing connected to the HeptaValve Mini in place as frequent insertions and removals of tubing may damage the fluidic integrity of the HeptaValve Mini body. 

     

    10.Clean up your

     

    o   3 acetone rinsing: place used materials in a beaker and pour 100% acetone on them.Swirl the beaker. Discard liquid and repeat this step 2 more times. Do not bathe materials as acetone can dissolve some materials. 

    o   3 ethanol rinsing: place used materials in a beaker and pour 95% ethanol on them. Swirl the beaker. Discard liquid and repeat this step 2 more times. 

    o   1 soap bath:Submerge material for a minimum of 4 hours, ideally overnight, in an unscented soap solution. We recommend using Frank lab’s TFD4 detergent solution. 

    o   Water rinsing: rinse material under running water until you can no longer see bubbles.

    o   Distilled water rinsing: briefly rinse material with distilled water. 

    o   Drying:place in an oven at 110° C for 4 to 6 hours if the material allows it.

       HVM is cleaned using the Pump box. 

     

       All cables and tubing are disconnected and placed them back into their respective cases.

     

       Material used is thoroughly cleaned.
